Ingredients

Caramelized Onion:

  • 1 no. Onion (sliced)

  • Pinch Salt

  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Sandwich:

  • 2 pcs. Italian bread

  • 2 tbsp Butter

  • 1 no. Pear, ripe (thinly sliced)

  • 1 tbsp Parsley (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese

  • 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese

Preparation

Caramelized Onion:

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a pan and then add onion slices.
  • Step 2: Next add salt and brown sugar, fry them on low heat, stirring often until the onions are soft and caramelized, for 10 minutes.
  • Step 3: When the onions are cooked add balsamic vinegar and stir and cook for 5-8 more minutes to get a rich, caramel colour. They will smell incredible and greatly reduce. Set aside.
  • Step 4: You can make the caramelized onion ahead of time and keep them in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can freeze them for up to 3 months. To thaw, let them stand in the fridge overnight.

Sandwich:

  • Step 5: Spread 1 tbsp of butter evenly over the bread slice and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on buttered bread slice.
  • Step 6:  Then top with caramelized onions and arrange the pear slices on the onions.
  • Step 7: Then sprinkle some chopped parsley and top with the cheddar cheese.
  • Step 8: Cover the cheese with the remaining bread slice and spread 1 tbsp of butter over the bread covering the entire surface.
  • Step 9: Now bake the sandwich in a preheated oven @230°C for 7-8 minutes.
  • Step 10: Serve immediately with potato chips or green salad or fruit salad
