Ingredients

Roasted Garlic and Sour cream Sauce:

  • 1 head Garlic

  • 1 tsp Olive oil

  • Salt

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream

  • 1 tsp sumac

Chicken Patties:

  • 250 gm Chicken, minced

  • 1 no. Onion (chopped)

  • 2 nos. Garlic Clove (chopped)

  • 1 tsp Sumac

  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder

  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp Bread Crumb

  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese

  • 2-4 tbsp Olive oil

Grilled Veggies:

  • 1 no. Onion, sliced

  • 1 no. Tomato, sliced

  • 4-5 nos. Green Chili, whole

  • 4-6 nos. Yellow Chili, whole (optional)

     

Other:

  • 1 loaf unsliced Italian bread

  • Pickled Cucumber

  • 1 small Lettuce

Preparation

Roasted Garlic, Sumac and Sour cream Sauce:

  • Slice the top of the garlic and set aside. Put the trimmed head of garlic in a microwave-safe bowl, add 2 tbsp water to the bowl, drizzle olive oil over the garlic and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave on medium heat until the garlic is very soft, 8-9 minutes.

  • Let cool completely, then squeeze the cloves out of the skins into the bowl of sour cream.

  • Next add salt to taste, sumac and mix well everything. Keep aside.

Grilled Chicken Patties:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together chicken mince, onion, garlic, sumac, black pepper powder, mayonnaise, salt to taste and bread crumb. Mix until well incorporated.

  • Next shape the chicken mixture into patties and heat oil in a large grill pan over medium-high heat.

  • Once the oil is ready, carefully place the prepared chicken patties to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  • Then top each patty with mozzarella cheese, then cover the pan and cook until cheese melts.

Grilled Veggies:

  • Add the sliced onions, sliced tomatoes and whole chilies to the pan along with the chicken patties.

  • Grill for 4-5 minutes or until grill marks form, then flip and grill for another 3-4 minutes, or until tender but not collapsing.

  • Once the veggies are all grilled. Keep aside.

Sub Sandwich:

  • Slice the bread into half lengthwise, keep aside. Tear the lettuce leaves and keep aside.

  • Now spread the roasted garlic, sumac and sour cream sauce into the sliced bread.

  • Place the following on the bottom half of your bread according to the given order: lettuce leaves, grilled tomato slices, pickled cucumber, grilled chillies, cheesy chicken patties, grilled onions.

  • Place the other half of the bread on top.

  • The sub sandwich is ready. You can toast it in the oven if you want a crispy bread layer.
