Ingredients needed for Chocolate Granola Bars:

This homemade chocolate granola bar recipe is easy, delicious and packed with wholesome ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Rolled Oats: Rolled oats create a chewy texture, add fiber and soften beautifully when mixed with other ingredients.

  • Natural Peanut Butter: This adds protein, healthy fats and a nutty flavour, while helping bind the bars together.

  • Date paste: This natural sweetener acts as a binder, enhancing the bar’s stickiness and adding a rich sweetness and a hint of caramel-like flavour.

  • Honey: Alongside peanut butter, honey binds the ingredients and imparts a warm, amber sweetness.

  • Nuts: Cashews, almonds, walnuts, adds crunch, healthy fats and extra protein to the bar.

  • Seeds: Incorporate a mix of powerhouse seeds like pumpkin, flax, sunflower, watermelon for a boost of nutrients.

  • Dried Fruit: Dried fruits like cranberries or raisins add burst of natural sweetness and chewiness, along with a pop of colour.

  • Chocolate: Semi-sweet or bitter-sweet dark chocolate works best. I prefer bittersweet chocolate, a slight bitterness that balances the sweetness of the honey and dates.

Storage tips:

  • Refrigerator: To store homemade granola bars, place the sliced bars in a container or ziplock bag and refrigerate for up to one week. To prevent sticking, add a piece of parchment paper between each bar.

  • Freeze: To freeze, store them in a freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers. They’ll keep up to three months. When ready to eat, let them thaw at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rolled Oats

  • 1 cup Pitted Dates (overnight soaked)

  • 1/3 cup Natural Peanut Butter

  • 1/2 cup Honey

  • 1/2 cup Almonds (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup Cashew nuts (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup Walnuts (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin seeds

  • 1/2 cup Sunflower seeds

  • 1/2 cup Watermelon seeds

  • 1/4 cup Flax seeds

  • 1/2 cup Raisins

  • 1/4 cup Dried Cranberries

  • 1/4 cup Dried Blueberries

  • 250 gm Dark Chocolate (chopped)

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Preparation

  • Step 1: In a frying pan add rolled oats and toast on medium-high heat stirring constantly until they get slightly golden. Then transfer into a large mixing bowl. In the same pan add the chopped almonds, cashews and walnuts and toast on medium heat stirring continuously until they get golden. Then transfer them into the same bowl with the oats.
  • Step 2: Next, toast the pumpkin, sunflower, flax and watermelon seeds on medium heat, stirring continuously and transfer them into the same bowl with the oats and nuts.
  • Step 3: Soak the dates overnight. Then add the pitted and soaked dates into a mixer grinder jar and grind them into a smooth paste.
  • Step 4: Then in the mixing bowl of oats add raisins, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, date paste, honey and peanut butter & stir to combine everything properly.
  • Step 5: Then transfer the mixture into a butter paper lined greased pan and level it out using a spatula. Use a spatula or potato masher to press everything evenly.
  • Step 6:  In a heatproof bowl, add chocolate and olive oil and microwave in 30 seconds bursts, stirring in between, until smooth. Once the chocolate is melted, pour the melted chocolate over the granola, spread it out evenly using a spatula. Place it in the fridge and let it set for 5-6 hours or ideally overnight.
  • Step 7: Once set transfer to a cutting board, demould it, remove the butter paper and cut into bars.
  • Step 8: Enjoy your homemade chocolate granola bars. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
