Ingredients needed for Flour Tortilla:
Flour: These tortillas are quite flexible when it comes to flour choices. All-purpose flour gives a soft, classic texture, while whole wheat adds a heartier feel. Spelt flour is another great option, offering mild, slightly nutty taste without affecting the structure.
Salt: A small amount of salt is essential for balanced flavour. Fine salt blends best into the dough, ensuring even seasoning throughout. Coarse salts should be fully dissolved in the liquid before mixing to avoid uneven taste.
Warm Water: Using very warm water helps bind the dough smoothly and makes it easier to knead. It also ensures the seasoning is evenly distributed, resulting in a more consistent dough.
Fat: A bit of fat keeps the tortillas tender and easy to roll. Oil, butter, lard or shortening all work well, each adding its own subtle richness.

Storage Tips:
Refrigeration: Allow freshly made tortillas to cool fully while wrapped in clean kitchen cloth before storing. Once cooled, stack them neatly and seal in an airtight bag. They keep well in the refrigerator for several weeks while staying soft and flexible.
Freezing: For longer storage, seal them tightly and freeze, they’ll remain fresh for up to three months. Thaw frozen tortillas overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Reheating: To warm, heat tortillas on a skillet or comal, flipping once or twice until heated through and supple. For a more rustic touch, warm them directly over an open gas flame, truing carefully until soft with light charring.
