Ingredients needed for Creamy Garlic Mushroom:
Mushrooms: Button mushrooms are ideal for this recipe. Choose plump, firm white or brown mushrooms- both work beautifully. What matters most is freshness, they should feel dry, sturdy and smell pleasantly earthy. Anything soft, sticky or with an off-odor means they are past their prime and best avoided. Before cooking, give them a gentle clean to remove any gift so the sauce isn’t spoiled by unwanted crunch. To clean mushrooms, skip rinsing them under water- these fungi absorb moisture easily and can become soggy. Instead, gently brush off any visible dirt using a dry paper towel or soft-bristled brush or with wheat flour, toss the mushrooms in wheat flour, pick each and gently rub it to remove any kind of dirt and dust. Most mushrooms sold in stores are cultivated in controlled environments, so they’re usually quite clean and only need light surface cleaning. If you must rinse them, do so briefly and dry immediately. Avoid soaking to preserve their firm texture and enhance their flavour during cooking.
Onion & Garlic: These two create the aromatic base that transforms simple mushrooms into something irresistible. When sautéed,onions add sweetness while garlic brings that punchy depth that makes every bite more satisfying. Fresh minced garlic delivers the brightest flavour.
Fresh Red Chili: Fresh chilies add a spicy kick and freshness to the dish.
Dairy & Thickener: Whole milk adds richness, while a little all-purpose flour helps achieve a smooth, thick sauce.
Butter: Butter contributes richness and rounds out the flavours. If you’re a fan of convenience pre-measured sticks save time and help with portioning.
Olive Oil: Olive oil provide the light base for sauteing. It enhances the mushrooms flavour and help them take on that lovely golden colour. Use an oil you enjoy the taste of- mushrooms soak it up, and it becomes part of the overall flavour profile.
Cream Cheese: A small amount of cream cheese gives the sauce extra body and a subtle tang. Softening it beforehand helps it blend smoothly and prevents clumping in the pan.
Salt & Black pepper powder: For seasoning.
Honey: Honey adds sweetness and balance tangy and savory flavour.
Oregano: dried oregano adds warmth and a hint of Mediterranean character. If you prefer, you can replace it with basil, thyme or an Italian herb blend, each brings its own charm.
Parsley: Flat-leaf or curly parsley both add a bright finishing touch. A small handful scattered on top ties everything together visually and flavour wise.
