Ingredients needed for Polish Cucumber Salad:

Making Agua de Pepino couldn’t be simpler, and it all comes down to just a few fresh basics.

  • Cucumber: English cucumber is preferred for its thin skin and minimal seeds. If using standard garden cucumbers, consider peeling them and removing the seed-filled center.

  • Sour Cream: Sour cream provides the traditional creamy texture and authentic taste. Plain Greek yogurt can be used as an alternative for a lighter dressing.

  • Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds brightness and balance to the creamy dressing. Adjust the amount to suit your preferred level of acidity.

  • Spring Onions: Spring onions adds a mild onion flavour and fresh colour. They are optional and can be omitted if desired.

  • Salt & Black Pepper: Essential seasonings that enhance and bring together all the flavours.

Serving Suggestions:

This Polish cucumber salad is cool, creamy flavour balances rich and comforting dishes beautifully. Serve it alongside roasted meats, hearty stews, potato based meals, or any summer inspired dinner spread.

Storage Tips:

For the best flavour and texture, enjoy this Polish Cucumber salad shortly after chilling. Any leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 48 hours. As the salad rests, the cucumber naturally draw out moisture, making the dressing thinner and the cucumbers less crisp.

Before serving leftovers, give everything a gentle toss to redistribute the creamy dressing. If preparing the salad in advance, store the cucumber slices and dressing separately until closer to serving time. Combining them shortly before serving helps maintain the salad’s refreshing crunch while still allowing the flavours to blend beautifully.
