Viral Crispy Onion Ring Chips | Kitchenstagram

If classic onion rings have a special place in your heart, these low-card onion ring chips are going to be hard to resist. Made with just two simple components, they deliver big crunch and bold onion flavour without the heaviness. Thinly sliced onions transform into crispy, chip-like bites that work just as well for snacking as they do for serving at parties.

I’ve always loved adding onions to almost everything, but traditional onion rings don’t exactly fit into an active lifestyle. That’s why this viral recipe instantly caught my attention. It’s fast, fuss-free and surprising satisfying. Each bite is savory, crunchy and packed with that unmistakable onion taste, making it easy to enjoy a favorite comfort snack while staying on track with healthier choices.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Classic onion ring flavour in a lighter, chip-style form.

  • Crispy, golden edges with tender onion centers.

  • Baked, not deep-fried, for a guilt free crunch

  • Savory, cheesy coating that stays crisp as it cools.

  • Bold seasoning adds big flavour in every bite.

  • Perfect for dipping, sharing or snacking straight from the tray.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve these onion ring chips alongside a creamy, cooling dip for contrast. Add them to a game-day platter with wings and refreshing drinks, pair with juicy burgers for a casual meal or present them as a playful starter next to a hearty steak dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 nos. Onion, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch thick round

  • 230 gm Parmesan Cheese, shredded

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Preparation

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400ºF and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Step 2: Using a Mandolin slicer, slice the onions into 1/4 inch thick round.
  • Step 3: Spread the shredded cheese over the prepared sheet pan. Carefully line the sliced Onions over the parmesan cheese.
  • Step 4: Drizzle with some olive oil and season with garlic powder, black pepper powder and smoked paprika.
  • Step 5: Bake them for 18-20 minutes or until the cheese turns golden brown. Allow it cool for 10 minutes so the cheese hardens up.
  • Step 6: Serve them with your favorite dips. Enjoy!!

Pro Tips:

  • Slice the onions paper-thin so they cook evenly and turn crisp instead of soft.

  • While the base recipe is simple, a pinch of spices can add extra character.

  • If you don’t have a mandolin, a very sharp knife and a steady hand work just fine.

  • Line your tray well to prevent sticking and cleanup easier.

  • Let the chips rest after baking, cooling helps the cheese set and creates that irresistible crunch.
